I. With a pair of gloves lost in a wager
II. Sun-worship
III. Changed perspective
IV. Sixty-eighth birthday
This piece is a four-movement cycle for mixed chorus and piano. Using four of James Russell Lowell’s four-line epigrams, it tells the story of a man, from a first flirtatious wager, through love and aging, to reflecting on the end of life. An optional orchestration will be available summer of 2017.
